Kuwait University Health Sciences Center (KU HSC) was established in 1982 to serve as the medical campus for Kuwait University. HSC started with one faculty: Faculty of Medicine and grew over years to currently include Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Dentistry in addition to the Vice President Office for Health Sciences. The Vice President Office for Health Sciences is a sector that contains different departments and units providing a wide spectrum of services to the health sciences community at Kuwait University. The sector, while offering services at educational, research, administrative, technical and strategic levels, aims to enhance the quality of medical education and healthcare delivery in Kuwait. Currently, the sector covers. Undergraduate programmes in allied health sciences were first offered in Kuwait University in the School of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing, within the Faculty of Medicine, in 1978. The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and Nursing was established as an independent faculty within the Health Sciences Centre in 1982. It changed its name to the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences in 2004 when the Nursing programme was transferred to the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training.  The programmes were established to produce locally-trained staff able to meet local needs, and to provide a more stable workforce than expatriate staff. The faculty currently offers Bachelor's degree programmes in Health Information Administration, Medical Laboratory Sciences,Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Radiologic Sciences. The Faculty plans to offer two additional programmes in Speech Therapy and Respiratory Therapy in the very near future.
